George Herriman



As a kid I was every much familiar with George Herriman's Krazy Kat, but until recently just hadn't acknowledged the amount of influence that his work had on my own. I must have been paying more attention than I thought. His linework seemed quick, but had purpose and did everything that linework is supposed to do in a cartoon. His topics were and are topical and I'm more than a bit surprised at how well his work holds up today. I methinks that's why they are considered classics.
