Beast At Black Rock, Page Two
Here is the page two teaser for The Beast At Black Rock story arc featuring the character Vic Torrious, that will appear with text and grey tones in Denver Brubaker's printed volume of The Tales Of A Checkered Man. The book will make it's debut at next weekend's C2E2 convention in Chicago.
This was my favorite of the six pages to do. Working from Denver's layouts, this one has a nice feel to it and flows well. I can't wait to see this in printed form!

Vic Torrious, Page One
As some of you may know, a couple of years ago I did a guest panel for a story in my cartoonist friend Denver Brubaker's web comic, Tales Of A Checkered Man. In that story arc, a flashback scene involving a side character, Vic Torrious, showed him in battle with the dark demon M'htrew. At the end of last year, Denver asked me if I could contribute a six page story that involved the same characters for his printed volume. I've been trying to flex my black and white/inking abilities some, so heck yeah, I was on board. The guest panel had a silver age/John Buscema kind of feel to it and although I had that in mind for this project, I think it took on more of the cartoon look that I am currently doing. I think it's effective and I sure hope that Denver and his fans think so too!
This six page story arc will be in the printed edition of the web comic and will make its debut in Chicago at C2E2 on April 26-28. The book is called Tales Of A Checkered Man, Vol.1, so pick up a copy. It's a great comic with some cool characters and has many wonderful and in-depth tales. Check it out!
I will be showing the panels that I did leading up to and beyond the show as a teaser. The finished art, complete with Denver's narration and grey tones can be seen in the book. Denver took my crappy art and made it all look palatable, ha, ha! It looks sweet, it really does, so again, check it out!
I will also have another C2E2 related project to announce soon, as well. Even though I won't be there, I seem to have a couple of projects that are debuting there at the end of the month.
As usual, click on the image to engorge.

Halloween Pin Up
Over at Denver Brubaker's Tales of a Checkered Man he is having other cartoonists dress their own characters up as The Checkered Man for Halloween. This, of course, sounded like fun, so here is Muck man dressed as the acrophobic crime fighter.
Did you really think it wouldn't be messy?
You can check out this piece, as well as other cartoonists, such as Jay Fosgitt and Tom Dell'Aringa take of their characters dressed as the Checkered Man here. And check in all month long for more cartoons from more cartoony people!

Muck Man #12
The latest episode of Muck Man has our hero wishing a Happy Birthday to another crime fighting vigilante, a hero created by fellow cartoonist Denver Brubaker, The Checkered Man (which may or may not be his real moniker). Denver created Tales of a Checkered Man and the strips began running one year ago. So, happy birthday to Tales of a Checkered Man and make sure you check out the bi-weekly adventures here. Tales Of A Checkered Man

Recently, I was fortunate enough to take part in Denver Brubaker's webcomic Tales Of A Checkered Man by doing a guest panel in the strip's current story line. Denver wanted a panel that was very different from his style and reminiscent of a John Buscema Conan type of look and the panel that you see above is what I came up with (through his direction, of course). So, go and check it out and you can scroll back and read all of the previous strips. It's a fun time and you can check it out here.
And a big thanks to Denver for letting me play a bit with his creations!
