After watching the Kirk Douglas movie Paths Of Glory, I just had to go back and do some quick and loose sketches. This is a beautifully shot film with plenty of contrast and shadows. The stance of George Macready in the bottom sketch was begging to be captured.
When I do these quick sketches I'm not worried too much with laying out a structure, but go at it in an abstract way, concentrating on the shapes of the shadows (not so much with the Macready sketch). It's fulfilling to me and I seem to get good results.
