Happy Halloween 2023!

 As I am rereading The Picture of Dorian Gray, I came across some old sketch that I did after reading it the first time back in 2005. The pages suffered from some water damage after a basement flooding  awhile ago, but I thing that it kind of added to the overall look of the sketches, being that they were done on craft paper. They look and feel very old now. I did a series of three sketch trying to pull off a degradation of his personality and not just an aging portrait. I'm not sure that I accomplished that, but still ok with these. 

These were all done on 9x12 craft paper with colored ink, black ink and colored pencil.

In light of the recent 'shocking' announcement that Mike Pence was dropping out of the presidential race, I give you Fly on Pence, a page from my upcoming book, 86 Sycophants, Charlatans, Leeches, and Opportunists of the Donald J. Trump Sh!tshow. This is a collection of caricatures highlighting (low lighting?) the many miscreants of the Trump years.

SH!TSHOW Book Launch Details

Ok, as the saying goes, sh!t is about to get real! After about two and a half years of working on this project in between gigs and whatnot, the Kickstarter launch for my new book 86 Sycophants, Charlatans, Leeches, and Opportunists of the Donald J. Trump SH!TSHOW will happen on November 6th. It's a quick launch date, but I wanted to get this out there before (or maybe for) the Christmas rush. The campaign will run for a month.

The book is a collection of caricatures with brief descriptions of their, ahem,  'accomplishments.' The foreword was written by the comedian and producer Noel Casler, who worked directly with trump on Celebrity Apprentice.

Today's Inktober word prompt is 'frost,' so what better person could there be to represent such a chilly disposition that old Jack Torrence freezing his cards off? 

Mummy Print

 

For this Friday the 13th, I give you a mummy print that I did this past week. I have been taking a four week linoleum cutting class that is based on Halloween designs, so I did this guy. As you can see in the lower right near the mummy's mouth there is an imperfection in the printing process. It's called a 'monk' and all it means is that there was some piece of debris on the linoleum block when I was inking this up.

I got a lot accomplished today, so I was able to speak in an Inktober sketch. Whether it's imagined, from a failed casino, or an over-inflated resort, it's all Fortune. I guess.

Well, it's been a bit since I've done a #SundayFishSketch and I'm actually quite busy these days prepping for the Kickstarter launch for my new book, but I felt that I needed to squeeze this one in. The theme this week is small fish that would be terrifying if they were enormous. So, this here is a dragonfish. Only a few inches long, but with that distended jaw, a rather scary site.

Go Figure! Sketch Night at Rainy Day

 

This past Saturday was the return to live model figure drawing (perhaps this month should have been undead figure drawing) at Rainy Day Art & Framing. It's been a long, yet quick two and a half years since doing so and it was good to get back to it! Our model Gabi, was dressed as Zelda from the video game.

As you may have noticed, I did not do Day 1 and probably won't do a lot of these this month, as I have a lot on my plate at the moment. I may squeeze in a few here and there if the word prompt is a good one.
