Inktober 2021, Day 28: Crispy

 

Today's official word prompt is 'crispy.'

I will be out of town this weekend and although I will draw each day's Inktober sketches while I am there (unless of course I am so busy that that will be a problem...), I won't be able to post them until very late Sunday or on Monday. I'll post the last three at that time.

Inktober 2021, Day 27: Spark

 

Wasn't there a movie or a book some time ago called Arsonists in Love? I guess that this is something like that.

Today's official word prompt is 'spark.' So, this works on a couple of levels.

Cherry Capital Comic Con 2021

 

This Halloween weekend you can find me up in Traverse City (Acme), MI for the Cherry Capital Comic Con. It's been a year and eight months since I last did a show and safety protocols are in place, masks must be worn, so hopefully all will behave and it will go well. I look forward to seeing all of the people that I haven't seen in awhile and all the new ones, too!

I'll have books, original art and will be doing commissions, as well. So, if you are in the area and interested in such things stop on by booth #808 and say hello.

Inktober 2021, Day 24: Extinct

 

For today's official Inktober word prompt of 'Extinct,' I had to base this inostrancevia fossil skull on Ruadhri Brennan's 3d printed sculpture of the same name. Ruadhri is based out of Ireland and does these incredible digital sculptures of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. I currently own a triceratops and can attest that these are rather awesome creations. You can check out his work at scaledbeast.com. He was also a prop maker on the new series Foundation.

The inostrancevia was a saber-tooth type therapsid and inhabited what is now Russia in the Late Permian period.

Inktober 2021, Day 23: Leak

 

My apologies. This one is a mess. But hey, a spilled gut isn't supposed to be squeaky clean now, is it?  So, try to look past the weird anatomy, the weird perspective, etc. Just focus on the weird, ok? 

It is a leak, so... winner winner, chicken dinner. I guess there's that.

Tomorrow's will be better. I promise.

Oliver Reed doesn't necessarily need to play the Wolfman in order to appear fuzzy. I think he was pretty much fuzzy in everything he did.

Inktober 2021, Day 20: Sprout

 

I'm cutting it close on this one, as I was out all day kayaking, which I didn't think I'd be able to do this late in the season. But, I was able to squeak this one in before the buzzer. 

EDIT: I should have drawn Professor Sprout and not a mandrake root, methinks.

I took the ouroboros snake circle thing and turned it into a loop. A snake loop.

I thought to do something more of the 'mooning' action, but let's keep it Halloweeny, shall we?

Like many, I thought that quicksand would be a bigger factor in adult life. I keep expecting it, but it never delivers. I guess, I should be thankful.

I had recently re-watched Nosferatu (1922) and when I saw the official word prompt for today, it struck me as funny to think of the snaggletoothed one grimacing over a sour tasting victim.
