Captain America: The First Avenger sketch cards
Above are all the sketch cards that I did for Upper Deck's Captain America: The First Avenger set. As you can see I am keeping with the cartoon style for the time being and also kept this one simple using just two characters: Captain America and the Red Skull. The last six cards are my Artist Proofs.

The Hellboy Fist
The Hellboy Fist or The Detroit Hellboy Memorial
15x20
acrylic on illustration board
My wife came up with this idea of taking the Joe Louis Memorial sculpture by Robert Graham that is located in downtown Detroit and replacing the JL fist with that of Hellboy's fist. Awesome idea and one that garnered a lot of attention at last week's Motor City Comic Con where I had the original painting on display. My wife has her moments and this was definitely one of them. I'm still kicking myself for not coming up with it!

Belle Isle Aquarium Koi Wrangling 2011
Tomorrow, May 7th at 9am, the Belle Isle Aquarium will be hosting the annual koi transfer from the winter basement holding tanks to the outside pond. This is a fun time, so bring the kids, the grandparents, whoever, down to Belle Isle for a good and worthwhile time. Alas, I won't be able to make it this year, as I will be at Wonderworld Comics in Taylor, MI signing for Free Comic Book Day.
So, make a day of it and got to the aquarium and then Wonderworld Comics!
