I did this Star Wars commission of the Anakin and Padme wedding scene from Attack of the Clones this past summer, which was given as a wedding gift, I do believe. I have heard nothing, so I am going to assume that it was well received. I hope. I would have preferred a fight scene between General Grievous and Obi-Wan, but...

I accepted the challenge.

Here are a few Empire Strikes Back themed sketch card commissions that I did recently. These were done of the client's custom made stock and are done in the wide vision format. As always, these were fun to do.

I finished watching Andor last week and was pleasantly surprised that Forest Whitaker had reprised his role as a younger Saw Gerrera. Whitaker has always had an interesting face and that he would be fun to draw, so I sketched out a close up of his animated Saw face and did an ink wash, something I don't do often. It might show.

I do so love black and white art, but I think that this one might look good colored. I may take a stab at it someday. 

Well, that's it, all of them, spread out over a year, or so. It was a fun project that may never see the light of day as a book, but I certainly had fun doing them.

I've been chipping away (literally!) at this one for awhile now, so it was nice to finish it up. Of course, nothing is ever really finished, as I could noodle this into oblivion, but you get the point. I struggle with scratchboard, but I feel the urge to keep doing it, as it provides a discipline that is different from what I usually do. I keep looking at the works of Mark Summers and recently, Thomas Ott. One has the straight lines and cross hatching that is ever so precise and the latter a more loose style, but no less detailed. Two different approaches with amazing results. Check them out, if you haven't already.

Anyway, this is the next letter from my unpublished Star Wars A-Z book. It's a long shot as to if it will ever be picked up and published, which I knew going in, but thought I'd show them.

P Is For Princess Leia...

who had buns in her hair.

Hey... I needed something to rhyme with 'lair.' So, have a little compassion for my mad writing skills, ok? 

This one is actually the second drawing that I did for the letter 'P.' My first rendition was sorely lacking in capturing a better essence of Leia, so it had to be fixed. I even had some art direction for this one from an art director. Hence, it's better than it was.

O Is For Oola

M Is For Maz...

Time for another Star Wars A-Z image from my unpublished book, entitled Yoda is Small and Other Such Utterances.

has big adjustable eyes.

This was the very first drawing that I did for the project. I had in mind a very Edward Gorey look and feel to it, but as you can see, it took off on a path all its own. The spirit is still there, though.
