Creatures For A Cure Art Print

(click on image to make biggish)

About a year and a half ago I contributed a creature (the Gamera looking turtle) for this art jam piece for a worthy cause. This drawing made its way around the midwest and took just about all of that year and a half to complete. I was the third contributor so it has traveled a lot since then!

Prints can be ordered from Asylum Publications and this was all put together by Paul Burke. Proceeds will go toward youth Cystic Fibrosis. You can get the details here.

The contributing artists for this piece are as follows alphabetically:

Steve Bejma    Mark Bloodworth    Seth Damoose    Dan Dougherty    Don England

Dedd Fredd    Bruce Gerlach    Arvell Jones    Vince Locke    Jamie Madrox

John Marroquin    Tony Miello    Jason Moore   Marianna Pescosta

Nate Pride    Bill Pulkovski    Steve Sharar    BK Taylor

Joshua Werner    Michael Woolsy

Baron Munchausen Sketch

I haven't had much to show as of late because I am hard at work on a comic book collaboration with Bill Pulkovski and that is taking up most of my workload, so here is a sketch of The Baron.

Poe Print

Yesterday I posted that I would be in Madison, WI for the Wizard World Comic Con and that I would be doing a panel with Bill Pulkovski about the influence of Edgar Allan Poe on art and film. Along with copies of the Portraits of Poe book that I did, I will also have new prints of the Poe illustration done for the book, but in it's original color.

New Convention Banner

This here is my brand new fancy pants banner that I will use for conventions. I wanted a new one as the old one had all licensed properties and I am not doing as much of that as I used to these days. Plus, one should have their own stuff as much as possible. A big thanks to Bill Pulkovski for doing the design work.  And I have a large space below to hang my latest prints and such.

Star Wars At The Edge

Tomorrow, starting at noon and going until five, join me along with Bill Pulkovski, Tony Miello and John Marroquin at the River's Edge Gallery in Wyandotte, MI for the Star Wars at the Edge event to celebrate the release of the new film. We have all worked on official Star Wars properties, so the gallery has brought us in to sell our works with Star Wars in mind. We will have originals, prints, sketch cards and will be doing commissions of your favorite Star Wars characters.

Then, after that join us for the Motor City Sketch official Holiday Party. Bring your sketch books or bring yourselves and have some fun rewinding after a day of shopping and visiting.

The opening is Thursday night at six and we will also be selling prints of our works. C'mon down, have a beer, a meal and check out some art.

Visigoths

Here's another wonderful driver. My buddy Bill and I were on our way through Detroit to go to a meeting to discuss an upcoming gallery show and we were driving west on I-94 to the Lodge. Now, anyone who is familiar with this interchange, it's not a difficult one. Well, this cretin flies up on me and does the whole weaving back and forth to let me know that she wants me to get out of her way. I'm doing above the speed limit and there are cars ahead of me. Nowhere for me to go. This type of behavior really pisses me off and considering how close she was to my jeep, I slowed down to the speed limit. Not good enough for Mama Cass as she sped even closer, not thinking that was possible. As we finally entered the new freeway she flies up and around me nearly hitting me in the process. Then, she proceeds to cut off a couple more drivers and gets off at the exit for Motor City casino forcing other drivers to veer out of her way. Of course, she was doing something that was as life and death as gambling away her money. Other people's lives be damned!

Of course, besides having a huge head, it was swept back to a point and she had the usual Visigoth features; angry expression, huge protruding brow, sneer, etc. She had a mouth that looked like something straight out of a Dr. Suess book, very Grinch-like. Plus, her hair was pulled back way too tight at the top of her head. I should be a little more compassionate, as she was probably in a lot of pain.

Well, that's it for this week's episode of the Visigoths. Stay tuned for more, I'm sure.

Hollywood Is Dead Sketch Cards

Here are the 15 cards that I contributed to the Hollywood Is Dead sketch card set that is forthcoming this summer by Matt Busch and Rocket Ink Studios. This was a fun set to work on and if you get a chance, check out Matt's book of the same name that inspired this set. You know, zombifying movie characters and stuff.
