Workplace Cartoons, Part 13

My latest Substack is the final chapter of my mattress making cartoons. I was there awhile, so there were a lot of them over the years. Click here to suffer miserably.

De-Icer Sticker

Recently, I was reading a book about the Wacky Packages stickers from the 70's and was inspired to do one myself. For those that don't know, Wacky Packages took common (and not so common) products, changed the name just enough so that you would know exactly what they were talking about and made it gross and funny in some way. I did not know that Art Spiegelman worked for Topps and on these stickers, although other artists took up most of the jobs. Wacky Packages had the worst gum ever. Hard as a rock and shattered when trying to chew. but, that was all part of the fun.

So, here is my rebellion sticker, based on a familiar company product. I will have these up on my website and Etsy storefront, probably this weekend, but you can avoid fees by contacting me directly. $3. Also, I will have these on hand tomorrow at the Warren Elks Comic Show.

SpaceX or Bust?

5x7
ink on bristol board

Or bust? Well...

What have we had? Three crashes in five months? And each time, it is said that 'this is great. A learning curve. This is how we grow.' Hell, they should have 'learned' so much by now that there should be human footprints on Mars. This is what happens when things are privatized. Hell, at least Nasa's tragedies were years apart and they actually did learn from those mistakes.

Golden Era, indeed.

So, this spot illustration will be part of a book of limericks that I'm slowly developing. My comic and the re-imagining of Legends of Le Detroit (art and maps, stories remains as written) are of the front burner, as of now. But, I am chipping away at it.

The Department Of Defense?

Right after the 'election' and up to the 'inauguration,' I was asked more than a few times when I would be starting on Sh!tshow 2, and to be honest, that question drained me. I just couldn't imagine spending all that time, yet again, drawing such shitty people. But, since then, my defiance is re-emerging, and have thought of an idea for another book. One where I wouldn't have to draw the shitty people dominating our landscape. Instead, I'm going to focus on their incompetence and those who suffered from their incompetence and cruelty. It will be a book of limericks and each limerick will have a spot drawing to go along with it.

Here's one about a recent act of stupidity that you may have heard of.

Democrat-esque

This is pretty much what I feel about Democrats these days.

"Hey, it's a shitstorm, but could you keep me being a millionaire?'

Alex Jones, Delusional Drama Queen

I'm not an authoritarian, nor a fascist, so I'll never understand the appeal, the pull, that these whackadoodles like Alex Jones, these crazy, delusional, conspiracists, have on people. That being said, I'm enjoying the proceedings that have this grifter sweating like a hog.

The 4th of July

Nothing says 'America' more than a shooting at a 4th of July parade. You can get your rights stripped away from you just like that and then be shot. 'Murica.

I did this cartoon a few months ago, so about 600+ shootings, or so, but knew that I'd have a chance to put it out there.

But hey, more money in the coffers for the NRA and the gun manufacturers, so that's what's most important here.

Enjoy your fireworks.

Uncle Sam Has A Question

This cartoon should be applied to the general state of things in this country, but the immediate thought that comes to mind is that just a few short weeks ago, they were standing on their soapboxes telling us how noble they all are in protecting the fetuses, that life is so important. Today, they are saying that dead kids are acceptable to protect the second amendment. Let that sink in for a bit.

I sure hope that he scored his bag of pot. It'd be a shame if he didn't.

Inktober Day 10: Hope

Today's official word was a tough one: Hope. How can I make this Halloweenish? Infection can be ghoulish, especially if one is part of a particularly dumb administration...

So, there ya go.

Homer Davenport Cartoon Festival

This was my entry in this past weekend's Homer Davenport Cartoon Festival in Silverton, OR, part of the overall Homer Davenport Days celebration. The events purpose other than honoring the great cartoonist Davenport, but to continue the tradition of the editorial cartoon as a means of important expression in the country. An art form that is being trodden upon even as we speak. Those committing atrocities do not want to be questioned, of course.

As my cartoon above represents, none of those children speak the language of Pence and the cruelty that he and his kind justifies, both literally and figuratively.

One can view all the entries here And you can learn more about Homer Davenport here

Visigoths

This past Saturday found us heading downtown to a concert and with all of the detours because of construction, we had to go down some heavily trafficked side streets. Lo and behold, we had the utmost joy of encountering this delightful guy. He was coming out of the parking lot of the beer store, pedaled his way into traffic without looking or caring, causing a couple of cars to take drastic measures to avoid hitting this future Darwin Award winner. Then, of course, heads right towards us, head on. We had nowhere to go. He had choices, though. But the choice he selected was to pedal his bike while balancing his beer purchase on the handlebars and yelling some generic racist crap, getting in his way, blah, blah, blah. Delightful lad.

Here is where I get my inspiration to sketch these modern days ignoramuses.

Visigoths

I swear this guy had hair on his knuckles. Why do they all look the same? Does their inner moron seep out into a physical manifestation? I don't know, but anyways, this clueless simpleton was a split second away from his skeletal structure being seriously compromised by the front end of my jeep. He literally stepped out in front of me without even thinking of looking. I couldn't even break, that's how close I was. All I could do was swerve away, hoping that no other vehicle was coming in that direction. And his response, you ask? He stood in the street, again, without looking for cars and puffed out his arms with an angry 'didn't YOU see ME' type of expression. He did have his phone in hand, but hadn't yet put it to ear (which I'm assuming was as hairy as his knuckles), so he wasn't distracted by that. He just wasn't going to look at all.

Future. Organ. Donor.

Here's a link as to the inspiration for these periodical updates on our societal condition.

Happy Fat Turkey Day

The Lions sucked today (what else is new?), so I sketched instead. Here's a fat turkey. Bon appetit!

Notice the soft white underbelly. That was intentional.

Inktober Day 19: Scorched

Today's Inktober word prompt is 'scorched.'

Inktober Day 17: Swollen

My apologies to frogs everywhere, but this guy is swollen in places amphibians aren't. Swollen head,  swollen hair, swollen ass, swollen gut, swollen gizzard... You get the idea.

Scary shit, I know, but it is that time of year.

Inktober Day 15: Weak

I can't think of anything weaker than these mental midgets. They carry tiki 'torches' for pete's sake.

Superior race, my ass.
