A Sci-Fi Commission

11x14
ink and markers on Bristol board

Here is a recent commission for a regular client, who always provides me with something interesting to draw. The young lass is a character of his own design that he has commissioned artists for their take on the scene, and also includes three lizard-like aliens. And he wanted there to be rain, as well, which I think was a good call for the background.

Recent Sketch Card Commissions

Here are two sketch card commissions that were done recently. The first is a bikini girl in a Christopher Lee pose from the '73 flick, The Wicker Man and the second I had free reign with, so decided to use the bikini girl with that lagoon guy. Hit me up if you want your own personal sketch card.

A Recent Commission

In this recent commission, the client wanted a bikini clad heroine in combat with the Marvel villain, The Spot. As with a recent post for the same client, I am showing the inks and then with colors. It's always fun to work on stuff like this.

Boxing Girl Commission

Here is a recent commission that I did where the client wanted a take on a Gil Elvgren painting, a take on a drawing that I did previously of Michael Madsen in Reservoir Dogs and a few design elements of his own. I've shown the inks before and after adding the color.

Contemporary Pin-Up Puzzle Jam Sketch Cards, Part One

I contributed on 20 cards for the Contemporary Pin-Up Puzzle Jam that was put out by Galens Sketch Art Productions. This set is out now and from what i have heard, it's doing well. I drew these before handing them over to Bill Pulkovski to do the other half. He did the same with the other 10 and then I did my images on the other half. So, if you want to see the other side to these, you'll just have to pester Bill some. I will post the other cards next week.

Recent Sketch Card Commissions

Here are a few sketch card commission for a collector across the pond. The top two are artist proof cards from the Carnival set from Viceroy Cards and all of the bottom cards are on my personal stock, as you can see. The common theme in these cards is the polka dot bikini girl in various misadventures.

Blue Intent

Blue Intent
6x20
acrylic and colored pencil on illustration board

While not in Detroit's Dirty Show this month, I do have something dirty for all of you perverts. Well, not really dirty dirty at all, but you know what I mean. I chose the thin working space to experiment with just a slice of the picture.

Ruby Thursday And The Clock Zombie Menace!

Ruby Thursday And The Clock Zombie Menace!
11x14
ink on bristol board

Above is a recent commission that I did that involved a creator owned character fighting a character of my own design. Michael's chosen character Ruby Thursday (created by Steve Gerber and Sal Buscema) vs my clock zombie from the Deadworld book, which he selected from my creations. I was happy that he chose the zombie and I think it's an interesting scenario. You can view Michael's commissions and creations here.

El Arto

El Arto is the studio name of a couple illustrator buddies of mine by the name of John Marroquin and Chris Sanchez and they have taken their mascot and studio image El Arto and turned him/it into a comic book, which will debut this weekend at Detroit Fanfare. I was honored to have been asked to do a pin up for the book, which is the image above. I wasn't sure at first about the background, but after finishing it and letting it sit for awhile, I think I achieved what I was going for in a claustrophobic and cluttered background, something seemingly impossible to escape from. Bullets, Bandito Goblins and death. But, our hero (or is it an anti-hero?), the undead mariachi has his six-shooters  ready to face the improbable.

Make sure to check out the artwork of John and Chris on their websites and be sure to come on by Detroit Fanfare this weekend in Dearborn, MI and check out the El Arto book! Oh, yeah, I'll be there, too.

Bumblebee

Here is a pin up style painting that I finished up a few months ago. It has two subjects of interest for me; women and bumblebees. What does this mean? I don't know. Does this really need a meaning? You tell me.

Voltron: United and Drawn

I just received my comp copies for the Voltron: United and Drawn book put out by 5Finity and Moonstone Books. I did the above painting (page 74) for the book last April, so it's nice to finally have the finished product in hand and it is a nice looking book. Kudos go to Steven Frank for putting together a great package and I'm always appreciative for being asked to be a part of something like this.

For those who know me, they know that I am not much of a fan of Voltron (hey, he's no Shogun Warrior!), but I think that I did a good job with the character and making him my own. I chose to do a pin-up style approach, as well.

Anyways, the book retails at $29.99 at all your fave book outlets and I have two copies that I can part with, so if your interested, shoot me an e-mail and we can haggle. I'll throw in a sketch to boot!
