Muck Man #31
As you can see, it's time for another episode of Muck Man. For this strip I tried a different header. It gives me a little more room, but I'm still not sure of it. What do you think? Does it work better than the old one in the upper left corner?
And don't forget to listen to the Muck Man theme song by Chris Quigley. If you haven't heard it yet, you should. It's really neato.

Muck Man #30
Muck Man # 30 in Covering One's Tracks! This one took a while longer to do than I would have liked, but I was experimenting in just how I wanted to do the splatter scenes. Hand crafted muck at your service.

Muck Man #29
The rather large sun-flowered dressed woman has made an appearance in my cartoons for some time now, from my 80's strip Wade's World right up through my single panel toons to Muck Man. I think she's a good vehicle to pitch a bitch and the innocent sun flowers gives a good contrast to the bilge she usually spews. And don't fret menfolk, because I also use a male version of this character from time to time, especially here in the Muck Man arena.
And don't forget, if you positively must have your Muck Man fix, you can purchase Muck Man #1, the comic book! Just contact me and I'll make sure you get a copy.

Halloween Pin Up
Over at Denver Brubaker's Tales of a Checkered Man he is having other cartoonists dress their own characters up as The Checkered Man for Halloween. This, of course, sounded like fun, so here is Muck man dressed as the acrophobic crime fighter.
Did you really think it wouldn't be messy?
You can check out this piece, as well as other cartoonists, such as Jay Fosgitt and Tom Dell'Aringa take of their characters dressed as the Checkered Man here. And check in all month long for more cartoons from more cartoony people!

Muck Man!
Just thought I'd throw up a Muck Man pin up while I'm in the midst of being crazy busy. Besides preparing for a trip to San Diego for the big con next week, I have five sketch card sets upcoming, a couple of book illustrations and a helmet to finish up for an As You Wish/Lucasfilm project. More on that later. So, definitely a busy month or two ahead!
It's just Muck for now.

Muck Man #27
I'm a little late in posting this one, as it was done about a month ago, but here it is. A little tribute to a couple of illustrators who passed away a little over a month ago.
I don't usually fool around too much with panel layout on these, as I usually have a pretty good idea in my head before I start, but this one had me doing a few different layouts. It's interesting how a simple four panel page can look and feel so different from each other (as in different layouts), almost as if something else was being suggested.

Muck Man #24
And this concludes the Origin story arc. This went on a bit longer than I thought, but like I said before, it kind of wrote itself. I drew the buildings in a jumble chaotic out of perspective heap to give it a sensation of chaos and confusion. I hope it worked.
The first 24 episodes are done and formatted and should be off to the printers very soon, so be on the lookout for the Muck Man comic!

Muck Man #23
Our origin tale is winding down with one more to go. I didn't think that it would go for 12 episodes, but it kind of wrote itself there for awhile. In case you missed it a few episodes back, the Peeper Brothers are a nod to Vaughn Bode's Peeper Bros., which were twins, I believe. They appeared in his Cheech Wizard (The Yellow Hat) strips. Which were awesome, by the way.
Plus, I just like saying 'Peeper Brothers.'

Muck Man #21
So, I got a little derailed in October and November due to an illness and some deaths and it seems like it's been ages since I last did a Muck Man tale. So, it was nice to get back into the swing of things and get going on this again. Also, my very first Muck Man comic book will see the light of day very soon as I am putting the finishing touches to this. Details coming soon!

Muck Man Theme Song!
My Chicago based uber talented musician buddy Chris Quigley has honored me by writing and recording a theme song for my Muck Man character. When he approached me a few months back about doing something like this I thought that I would keep an open mind and be gracious for whatever he came up with. I didn't think that this would be too difficult a task to accomplish since I'm a fan of his music anyways. But, when he sent the link with the demo, I have to admit that just before playing it I had a secondary flash of anxiety that it wouldn't capture the 'essence' that is the Man of Muck. I then reminded myself that I would probably like what I heard. All doubts (which were pretty much nil, anyways) were immediately cast aside when the first guitar licks festooned from my speakers. To say that I was pleasantly pleased would have been an understatement. It does have an infectious guitar riff that I seem to be humming all weekend. Come on! Muck Man has a theme song! How cool is that?
Chris and I go way back to high school and as he has said that I liked him even when his music sucked, I can say the same that he stuck around me even when my art sucked! I fondly remember him giving me flack about my dreamy big-eyed self-portraits. Good times. So, go and check out his site for witty remarks and even better tunes. I believe that he is currently tearing up the Chicago night club scene, so if you live in the Chicago area, check him out!
Check out the Muck Man Theme here.
And here is the instrumental version.
So, make sure that you go to the Quigman's site and tell him just how cool the Muck Man Theme is! I command you.
And for your veiwing pleasure, a toon of Muck Solo, as seen above.
